For nearly 28 years , I engaged in a civil trial practice, covering a wide range
of cases, both in subject matter and in size, Although most of that practice
was on behalf of defendants, I have also represented plaintiffs , and
understand the practicalities of representing plaintiffs. When I was
practicing, I gradually became aware that I have the temperament and
personal skills that would be an asset in mediation, and the personality to
enjoy this work.
As a practicing lawyer, I tried to resolve my clients' problems as efficiently
as possible, and have always believed that treating one's adversaries
professionally is a help, not a hindrance, to solving those problems. As a
result, I have good working relationships with both the plaintiffs' and
defense bars in the Central Valley.
Since leaving the practice, I have received basic and advanced training in
mediation at the Straus Institute, Pepperdine University, and have engaged
in substantial self-study in the art of mediation. I have regularly served as
a judge pro tem handling settlement conferences for the Court, and am
enjoying a growing private practice as a mediator.
